Christmas number 20-something with Cari and Leeann.
As I’ve mentioned numerous times before, Carissa Anne Kusto-Tester, Leeann Marie Blaisdell-Sweany and I have been friends since we were about ten. For those counting, we’re getting right up there into the twenty-something years of friendship. Well, almost. #almost30
Anyway, those Christmases have looked very different over the years. From getting drunk together the night before Christmas Eve in Cari’s parent’s basement while we were off school in high school, to getting drunk the night before Christmas Eve at the bars when we were in college, to getting drunk the night before Christmas Eve at my parents house while we played cards this year. Er, wait… I guess they don’t really look that different. #drunkenreflection
One shining difference this year, however, is all three of Cari and Leeann’s kids were in Michigan this year and we all got together. Cari, her husband Jason and son Graham, Leeann, her husband Justin and her kids Kaylee and Dominic. I love these three like my own. They are just so damn cute. #notbiased
Next year, there will be one more little Tester and one more little Sweany as both Cari and Leeann are due again this fall. #theyaremommymachines

A Birkhold family Christmas.
Some of my favorite people in the world are the people I share a last name with. Also those who may not have the same last name, but with whom I have a similar genetic composition. cousins, aunts, uncles, second cousins, etc…
Some traits we have in common due to those genetics:
- we are all loud
- we all think we’re really smart
- we talk over each other and think it’s okay
- the more the merrier.
- and we’re all ridiculously good looking (by our own standards, of couse.)
Christmas is usually a pretty good time. We have a FEAST. My aunts crush it in the kitchen. We watch sports. My uncles know more about Michigan athletic teams than any other people I know. We play games. My second cousins really like nintendo DS and the rest of us like to prove how smart we are by playing a rousing andĀ raucousĀ game of team trivial pursuit. We drink wine. Lots of it.
It’s a good time. Stop by next year.
My bad..
So…. I haven’t blogged since well before Christmas. My bad.
I vow to do better from now on. In fact, I’m going to hit you with a flurry of posts between now and the end of the day. Bad blogging form, I know, but at least it will catch you up to my life without boring you with a super post. Maybe… Until then, here is a photo of my girl crush, Anne Hathaway. Doesn’t she look good?
