The Awesome – Day 22 : Oh, Canadia!.

I sometimes consider myself an honorary Canadian. Not too sure why. I mean, I’m from Michigan, I have an accent similar to that of Canadians and I love hockey. But, I have never fully celebrated the birth of Canada in the way I have celebrated the beginning of America for the past 27 years. Yesterday, I decided to remedy that.

Thanks to my buddy, @harvitronix, I was able to wear a Canadian flag pinned to my shirt all day. I was a little wary of the jankiness of the plan, but Harvey assured me the “ghettoer the better.” Being the only true Canadian I had to ask at that moment, I took his word for it.

me and my canadian shirt. makeshift.

The makeshift patriotism was good and all, but to truly celebrate Canadianism, I had to go further. And what screams Canada more than Poutine. So I concocted a batch for my co-workers. Harvey questioned the authenticity of it, but cheese curds are hard to find in Colorado. So, I did the best I could.

Harvey is skeptical, but still eating the shit out of it.

To go with this lovely french fry, gravy and cheese concoction, I had to invest in a case of Molson. How do you say “duh” in Canadian?

Thanks to the SMP crew for participating in Canadian Day with me. Since I’ll actually be in Canada for the 4th of July, my patriotic identity is bound to be in question soon, so stay tuned.

These chicks are not Canadian, but they are Awesome: Jess, Lesley and Tawnya.

xoxo.
